I was looking out the window and saw a bunch of big birds flying together. I think they were geese and I thought I knew they were called a “gaggle”. Well I was wrong !!! A group of geese on the ground are called a “gaggle” but a bunch of geese flying are called a “skein” !!! Who in the hell thought up these names ??? I did a little research and this is what I found. Some are easy and well known (examples: a “school” of fish, a “pride” of Lions and a “pack” of wolves) but other are outrageous and crazy:
A group of flamingos are called a “pat” …
A group of turtles are called a “bale” …
A group of horses are called a “team” …
A group of elephants are called a “herd” …
A group of buffalo are called a “gang” …
A group of camels are called a “caravan” …
A group of crows are called a “murder” …
A group of frogs are called an “army” …
A group of beavers are called a “colony” …
A group of owls are called a “parliament” …
A group of bees are called a “swarm” …
A group of crocodiles are called a “bask” …
A group of alligators are called a “congregation” …
A group of apes are called a “troop” …
A group of jellyfish are called a “bloom” …
A group of giraffes are called a “tower” …
A group of eagles are called a “convocation” …
A group of donkeys are called a “drove” …
A group of apes are called a “shrewdness” …
A group of foxes are called a “charm” …
A group of kangaroos are called a “mob” …
A group of peacocks are called an “ostentation” …
A group of sharks are called a “shiver” …
A group of zebras are called a “zeal” …
.I could go on and on but you get the idea. It is amazing the names they come up with for groups of animals.
