***** 5 Stars
Once again Gamble comes through with a film that give us everything we want in a feature. A compelling story, great music to fit the scenes, solid cinematography that offers up some incredible visuals, a sterling cast and simmering, sizzling sexual encounters. That and more, is what we have here. With every new project that comes from Gamble you know it will be different, exciting, captivating and extremely sexual. Emerging over the past couple of years as one of adult’s most visionary directors Gamble continues to reach new heights. This award nominated film is just one more jolt of solid entertainment from this accomplished actor/director. It is a psychological thriller that will have your attention from beginning to end. It will also make you think of times when you might have seen, felt or witnessed these kinds of changes in the human spirit.
Blake Blossom is terrific in the title role. She is a driver doing ride shares, but her life is in shambles and so called friends don’t bother to help her in times of need. It seems like there is someone out there who doesn’t want these people around as one murder after another takes place making her life even more confusing. With this as the basis for the plot and story, the twists and turns start happening trying to figure out who this serial killer is.
There is a scene in a restaurant where Charles Dera, playing a real creep, and doing it very well, hits on Blake, but she is having none of it. She is made very uncomfortable and scoots out of the restaurant. He is just creepy, but with no advance with Blake he turns his attentions to Jennifer White and they wind up getting it on. But that’s not the end here as Blake has been outside all this time and now decides it’s time to change gears and take control of her life in her very own way. Now that she has control, shye picks up a passenger, Dan Damage, and right away we can feel the tension as he makes a mess of her car and she is not happy. They pull off the road, exchange words, one thing leads to another and one very hot, steamy sex session with these two and then, bam! That’s the end of Dan. This is one hell of a scene in every way, not just sexually. In another twist what happens to Dan reveals Iris as the killer, but she is far from done in this gripping drama. Alex Mack and Emma Hix are two passengers in her car next and what takes place, how, when and where, we’ll leave for you to discover. There is a lot more going on here, but you really need to grasp every single nuance of this film to appreciate what Gamble has strung together.
The script is exceptional with some very realistic and spot on dialogue. The settings, cinematography and locales are all top notch adding to the realism. The sex is really sizzles and adds to the overall story, but it is the casting and superb acting that really makes this mainstream like film click. Blake shines as Iris in what may be her best role yet and the rest of the cast show off some acting chops not often seen in an adult film. Already nominated in a variety of categories for the upcoming AVN and XBIZ awards, that is just the beginning as more accolades and award nominations are sure to come and all are well deserved. I highly recommend getting hold of “Iris” and enjoying another foray into the visionary film world of Seth Gamble.
