Porn’s Platinum Princess

She was born Dorothea Hundley in 1954 in Radford, Virginia. In school Dorothea was very smart and very popular at Hopewell High School and won several beauty pageants. After graduating with honors she took money she had saved and opened a couple of adult stores in Virginia and Maryland in the 70′s. She also married right out of high school, but the marriage was short lived. After seeing some of the films she was selling her stores, she decided she could do it better. So she sold off the stores and headed for Las Vegas where she would do her first nude magazine layout. That layout immediately brought her a lot of attention and in 1978 with her new name of Seka she headed to Los Angeles to get into porn. It was at a time when the industry was growing getting away from 35mm film to the new video tape. This new style of watching porn would elevate her to becoming one of top stars in the late 70′s and early 80′s.

Whether it was because of her stage name or the fact she had appeared in a number of Swedish Erotica films, many of her early fans thought that Seka was from Sweden, which of course she was not. Seka would go on to make more than 250 films in her career. That would include the many recycled clips and compilations. In her films she would perform in a variety of scenes, everything from anal to gangbangs and dp’s. She was also very comfortable in all girl scenes and using toys. One of the things that Seka was way ahead of the curve on was in shaving her pubic hair, something that wouldn’t be part of porn until years later.

Seka made her debut in 1978 in a film titled Dracula Sucks that was also better known as “Lust at First Bite” and her co star was John Holmes. She appeared frequently in the Swedish Erotica series showing up in more than 50 different volumes. In 1980 and 1981 she appeared in more than 50 regular adult films cementing her as the biggest female star of the time. Among those films were “Carnal Highways”, “Confessions of Seka”, “Sweet Alice”, “Ultra Flesh”, “Plato’s -The Movie”, “Love Goddesses” and many more. In addition to all the clips from Swedish Erotica, there were also about two dozen clips in the late 80’s for the Blue Vanities series as well.

Seka, who was well liked by co stars and was always the consummate pro was also dubbed the title of the “Platinum Princess” or the “Marilyn Monroe of Porn”. In 1983 she stepped away from adult saying she wasn’t being paid enough as a porn star. However, the real reason for her departure came out years later when she admitted the HIV scare was the reason she left. After leaving she started doing strip shows in clubs and nude magazine layouts. She also developed her huge fan club which became a very lucrative business and is still going strong today. Her stardom has never wavered with true fans of porn and the golden era.

She did make a return to porn several years later but things had changed and while still a popular name, a new breed had pretty much taken over. In 1993, almost forty, Seka made her final appearance in the film “American Garter”. Because of sun damage her skin wasn’t the same, she’d put on weight and just was not the same Seka fans remembered. After leaving adult, Seka appeared on a variety of TV talk shows, did her own radio gig for a time and continued building her fan club and website. For all she gave the world of porn she is inducted into both the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. Today at 61, Seka lives in Kansas City and is kept very busy with her websites and fan club businesses.

She was truly one of the most glamorous women of the time and her sexual performances were among some of the best to be seen. Thanks to technology, most of Seka’s films are now on DVD to enjoy. Seka was definitely one of a kind back in the day and one of the stars who helped elevate the industry to bigger and better heights.
