She was born on November 26, 1950 in the Texas panhandle. She grew up with a normal childhood, typical dreams of a young girl, but was always sexually advanced for her age. When she got a chance to sneak a view at some porn, she felt that she could do what they were doing sex wise and do it better. She also had dreams of becoming a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. When that dream failed to become a reality, she headed west to California and got into the adult film industry film in the early 80′s. She was already just past thirty, but she was busty, tall, had long black hair and that Texas accent. All that together in one package got her in the door of porn very quickly and immediately the name Honey Wilder became very well known and popular. The porn industry had pretty much moved from New York where it all pretty much started out to California where the porn industry was growing, so her timing was right.
In addition she had a very sparkling personality, an outgoing disposition and it wasn’t long before she was in front of the cameras showing off not only her great sexual talents, but her natural ability to act as well. She appeared in her first porn film in 1981, a feature called “Swedish Erotica 39” which quickly got her a lot of notice. She took on her first starring role in the classic “Wild Dallas Honey” in 1982. Being a bit older than most of the young girls coming into the business she easily and convincingly took on the “older woman” roles in a number films like the all time porn classic “Taboo” with Kay Parker as well as the follow up sequels and other films like “Forbidden Fruit”, “It’s My Body”, “Sex Spa USA”, “Frisky Business”, “Jewels In The Night” just to name a few. Through all these films there was no question about her love for sex, but there was also no question that Ms. Wilder had some serious acting chops as well. She was accomplished and a natural who could deliver lines as good as any female in mainstream. Ms. Wilder only did about 70 adult films in her career, but she was nearing forty and felt the time had come to go in new and different direction and in 1988 left the business.
From adult she moved on and for a time she worked as a production designer and set decorator for mainstream films and TV productions. As for her current status, no one seems to know where she may be, what she may be doing and how she is healthwise. Like some others, once Honey Wilder left the adult business, she left it all behind and never looked back. She is a worthy member of the AVN Hall of Fame having been elected into the hall in 2001.
Today Ms. Wilder would be 64, and still has maintained a pretty solid fan base over the years. Thanks to all the advances in modern technology over the past ten years or so, many of Honey Wilder’s films are now available on DVD and still very popular among fans of the golden age and her many new fans as well. In addition her fan club website is very active www.HoneyWilderOnline.com
