In just 5 days, January 25, 2016, it will be ten years since we lost one of porn’s most dynamic performers and who also became a very close personal friend to me and all of us at NightMoves, Anna Malle. It is with the greatest love and respect that I highlight this beautiful lady in her career and also from a very personal view point.
She was born Anna Marie Stout/Hotop-Stout on September 14, 1967 in the small town of Havana, Illinois, but raised in Iowa. Her striking and very exotic looks, along with the jet black hair come as a result of her Irish, German and Cherokee heritage. She was sexually active at a young age and had her first experiences with a woman and a threesome with a couple when she was seventeen.
Her entry into porn came about by going out to Las Vegas with her husband and checking out the scene and various companies. They hooked up with Homegrown Video, the leading amateur company and did some videos for them. From there Anna appeared in Ed Powers “Dirty Debutante” series and it was off to the races from there. Anna would do a variety of different kinds of films for several companies, mainly performing with her husband. One thing was always for certain with Anna, she was the real deal sexually and as a person and told it like it was. She also began to do feature dancing at various clubs around the country and was always well received by her legions of fans.
From almost the very beginning of her porn career, Nina Hartley, not only became a good friend, but her mentor. They worked together often and had a great sexual relationship on screen. Anna has always credited Nina with being the one who guided her path in the right way in the business.
Over the years Anna was in porn she did about 300 plus videos of all kinds and even directed a few along the way. Being so very sexual and comfortable with both sexes, and also being in the swinging lifestyle, Anna’s performances on camera were rarely faked. What you saw was what you got and that went for in person as well. There was not a more honest, down to earth person in porn like Anna. Unfortunately all of that was taken away from us in the late afternoon of January 25, 2006 when she was killed instantly, as a passenger, in car accident outside Las Vegas. Now a member of both the NightMoves and XRCO Halls of Fame her personality, her talents and her legacy will live on.
Now I want to tell you about Anna Malle, the person.
I first met Anna when she appeared at our NightMoves Adult Awards show back in the late 90’s. She was friendly, funny, down to earth, sexy as hell and someone I, and my wife Flo, made an instant connection with. We would stay in touch between awards shows and when she returned to Tampa, it was like greeting a family member you hadn’t seen in a long time. It became a special relationship beyond the adult scene.
In 2001, my wife was in a nursing home suffering from a debilitating stroke and beginning to suffer from dementia. I let Anna know about it, but when she came to town for our awards show she did something I did not expect. Despite the heavy schedule all our stars were on with the “Star Caravans” appearances every day and night at various clubs, Anna found the time to round up a few of the girls and took the time to go to the nursing home to spend an hour or so with Flo. It was a gesture that I will be forever grateful for and all that it meant.
In May of 2002, my wife passed away and that October we dedicated our awards show to her. Once again, Anna, who was co hosting the show, let her emotional side show as she literally did a eulogy on stage to my wife and had everyone in tears. This was the REAL Anna Malle, not just a porn star, but a beautiful woman inside and out who I loved and was honored to call a friend.
After Anna’s tragic death on January 25, 2006, I felt the best way to honor her memory was to create an award in her name. I came up with the Anna Malle Triple Play award that we have given out since October 2006. Triple play refers to a person active in three different areas of adult. Anna was a performer, director and feature dancer. We were honored to have her husband, Hank Armstrong, present the very first Triple Play award to Stormy Daniels. Since then among the winners of this award has been jessica drake, Kylie Ireland, Joanna Angel, James Bartholet, Kelly Shibari and Bonnie Rotten.
That is the Anna Malle I will always remember. I imagine she and Flo are having a heck of a time up above regaling everyone with some great stories. R.I.P. Anna you are loved and will always be remembered by us all.
My sincere thanks go to Hank for his okay and blessing on this piece.
