So what’s for lunch? That should be relatively easy today considering it is National Hot Dog day.  There are special deals all over the area for freebies, BOGO’s, discounts, etc. so check them out. In the meantime, why not enjoy these long time favorites, not just in a hot dog roll, but in a variety of combinations for a dinner that’s hearty and different. There are some great recipes on the Food network page   that will surprise you, so give it a look.

So how do you like your hot dog? The simple fact is there are hundreds of ways to jazz up a hot dog and all of them, well most, sound, look and taste very appealing. It depends what area of the country you come from as to how hot dogs are presented and favored. There is the Coney Island, the Detroit, the Chicago, the Texas, the West Virginia, the California, the Boston, the Alaskan and so many more styles. But whatever way you like your hot dogs, today is the day to celebrate it. Yeah, I know, we have hot dogs many times throughout the year at hot dog stands, at home, at barbecues, etc, but today it is the “Dog’s Day”, so go for it.

For me, I’ve tried them many ways, but my preference is the old Rutt’s Hut way. Anyone from northern New Jersey knows what I am talking about (The Ripper)! Rutt’s Hut in Clifton is an institution that has been around over 85 years.
