Los Angeles, Calif. – (July 1, 2019) – Wicked Pictures took the 35th Annual XRCO (X-Rated Critics Organization) Awards Show by storm Thursday evening, June 27th. The breakout hit Deadpool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody starring Seth Gamble as Deadpool, jessica drake as Lady Deadpool, and Brad Armstrong as Cable, earned the organization’s coveted Best Parody award. Fittingly, legendary director Braun also received the organization’s Best Director-Parody Award.
Having already earned Best Parody from AVN and Comedy Release of the Year from XBIZ, this new accolade confirms Deadpool XXX‘s status as the triple-threat adult film of the 2019 awards season. Braun’s other blockbuster of 2019, The Possession of Mrs. Hyde – the iconoclastic filmmaker’s first original feature in fifteen years – earned Avi Love the XRCO’s Best Actress trophy. Love’s revelatory performance was similarly honored earlier this year at the XBIZ Awards, where she earned Best Actress – Feature Movie for her fine work in the titular role.
Hosted by Welsh crossover adult star Sophie Dee and award-winning actor Prince Yahshua, the industry-only soiree was held at the storied Hollywood hotspot Boardner’s by La Belle, a Los Angeles mainstay featured in such films as Tim Burton’s Ed Wood and Curtis Hanson’s L.A. Confidential. Rising stars Gabbie Carter and Sophia Lux served as the evening’s trophy girls.
“Being recognized by the X-Rated Critics Organization is always a tremendous honor,” said Braun. ”But as much as I would love to take full credit for it, Deadpool XXX is a parody that owes its success entirely to Seth Gamble’s incredible performance, so these awards really belong to him as well. I am just lucky to still be a part of the conversation after almost 30 years in the business, and to be able to work with people I love, and with a company that not only gives me the creative freedom to film projects I can be proud of, but also allows me to have a superstar like jessica drake in my movies…so a big thank you to Steve Orenstein and everybody at Wicked Pictures, and a special shout out to my fellow contract director Brad Armstrong, who graciously lent not only his considerable acting talent, but also his costuming skills to this movie.
