***** 5 stars
I am very pleased to be able to give you a sneak peek at this new release before it comes out in May.This is a powerful sequel from the folks at Sweetheart after their award winning and critically acclaimed initial release of “Confessions of a Sinful Nun”. All the characters are are back with a couple of solid additions and the storyline centered around Sister Mona is powerful, passionate, straightforward and filled with the lust and desire of the human mind and body. While the subject matter can be unsettling for some, it is not to be ignored that a lot of what takes place in this film does actually take place in real life as well. The performances that are portrayed in this new release are extremely realistic, believable and done with total dreativity and total professionalism.
It opens with a narrative and haunting music as we see one of the nuns getting ready for her day. Then we have the Mother Superior (Nina Hartley) in her study and having a talk with one of the sisters. There are changes that are coming to the monastery and Sister Mona discovers that she will be transferred to another abby that is run by Mother Joan (Magdalene St. Michaels). There is some powerful interaction that takes place in the opening min utes of this film that will grab your interest right away, like the punishing and stripping of Sister Mona (Mona Wales) and the feeling that the Mother Superior is not well. As the scene shifts outside on a beautiful sunny day a couple of the sisters are running around on the grounds and find a place with some privacy and that leads up to the first sexual encounter as Lena Paul and Cassidy Banks waste little time getting it on with each other eight on the monastery grounds. It is one very sensual, passionate and exciting scene with these two. What makes this scene even more erotic and daring are the shots of the monastery in the background as these two devour each other.
The reason for the stripping was that Sister Mona and her wanton ways are, of course, strictly forbidden, but she cannot help it when it it comes to her desires. The same can be said of Sister Charlotte (Charlotte Stokely), who has her own sexual demons to deal with and explore. It all makes for some very challenging times for everyone concerned. The move to the abby run by Sister Joan is a real eye opener. She is an extremely strict overseer of her nuns and has a very different method of doing things. One thing she is out to do is curb Sister Mona’s immoral ways but easier said than done as Sister Mona wastes no time in finding a very willing partner for some dalliance in Serene Siren.
Sister Charlotte is also taking on more responsibility and she finds a novice nu in Kenna James to assist her. But here again, the powers of the flesh become too much and while they do their best to be good nuns, they can’t help themselves and have a blistering encounter. Sister Charlotte is bound to make sure that the Mother Superior is well cared for and there is a couple of great scenes between these two that are both telling and very dramatic. There is lot that goes on under the rule of Sister Joan as Sister Mona is being watched over and then there are changes that begin to take place. It also will become evident further along that there is a connection between the Mother Superior and Sister Joan. However, there are tewists and turns in this story and I will leave it all for you to watch un fold. I will tell you that the final three or four minutes of this film will provide an ending that will leave you surprised, stunned and mystified. As the final frame says…….To be continued.
This entire production is done with a very mystic, dark, well shaded and stunning backdrop. The costuming, the sets, the music, the lighting all bring the characters and scenes to a haunting light. The cast is absolutely superb in every way as they bring total reality to each character they portray. So well are they that to select one or two of the performers as best would be a disservice to the rest of the cast. The sexual encounters come at the right time and fit into the story line and the perfect time so that these encounters of the flesh are what they are intended to be, an integral part of the story. Greenwood’s direction is well paced, fluid and allows for each of the performers to showcase the character they portray. In short, all I will say is get the award noms ready because this production will garner quite a few.
While the subject matter may be hard for some to come to grips with, this is an important story to tell. If you can deal with the subject then I strongly recommend getting hold of this when it comes out around May 5th.
