**** 4 stars
Adam & Eve had several productions ready to roll out, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic literally shut down the industry and just about everything else. This production was one them and we are very pleased to bring it your way with our review. With the shutdown in effect getting it at your local video store may not be possible. However, you can order this film/DVD direct from Adam & Eve.
This is a very taut, dramatic story that is expertly handled and paced under the direction of the award winning Kay Brandt. The lead character, Josie, is very ably portrayed by Febby Twigs, a young lady you will be seeing a lot of once the industry is running at full throttle. The storyline has Josie going away to Thailand to forget a lot of mistakes in her life. But she returns to the family owned MMA gym to bury her deceased father and to come to terms with her past and hopefully better future. It is dramatic, it is athletic it is filled with steamy sex and it will have you not missing a beat as this story moves along.
It opens with Josie meditating when she gets a call from her best friend Morgan (Krissy Lynn ) telling about her father dying and it shocks her. She is beside herself and decides to head back home. In the mean time Krissy is thinking about shutting down the gym for awhile, but Derrick and Will tell her they will help to keep it going. They are all not sure Josie is coming back. Then we go to scene in the gym where Victoria and Kay are working out on the boxing bag with instructor Nathan Bronson. There is some good athleticism in this scene and before you know it the action goes from the boxing bag to the floor and one wild threesome that has everything working for it.
Next up Josie comes home and in the gy6m meets up with Michael and Nathan and they are sorry about her loss and will help any way they can. Nathan leaves and she spends time with Michael and makes it clear she is only here to take care of her father’s wishes and then back to Thailand which she says is her home now. From small talk to working out with Michael to a rousing one on one ringside Josie is masking the most of her time with Michael in a very intense encounter. At one point Michael, who is 6’ 5”, picks her up and does a standing mish with her. She is very vocal throughout in this powerful scene. After that the scene switches to the two of them talking and Michael tells her that Morgan is running everything and wants to shut it down. Josie is upset because it is a family business, so there is tension beginning to build.
Apparently Morgan and Josie’s dad were a couple and she wound up taking over the family gym even after they broke up. Now he’s dead and Josie is not going to let the family business go without a fight. She run s into Derrick an d wants to get more information but he knows how she left the family and the business but he understands. Then she meets up with Will who is at the gym for a workout. After he leaves Josie camps out for the night at the gym. The next morning she and Morgan come face to face and now things will get more interesting but in an un expected way.
Now that I have given you the premise and some of the highlights in there is a lot more that takes place in this three part series that will keep you intrigued and interested right to the end. There is still plenty of action, in and out of the ring, to come along with a few twists and turns to make it even more interesting.
The fact that6 most of the cast have athletic, martial arts, MMA, yoga backgrounds is very obvious in the action scenes in the gym and ring adding plenty of believability to the characters being portrayed. The camera angles offer up some great visuals throughout. The exterior shots that frame the scenes are extraordinary and add an almost travelogue like essence. Ms. Brandt’s direction is fluid and well paced so that you get a chance to see the characters develop into more than just performers. Bottom line is that I definitely recommend getting hold of “Body Slam” from the folks at Adam & Eve.
