Los Angeles, CA–April 12, 2023—LA recording artist J. Hustles enjoyed a deep, hard hang with adult industry icon Lisa Ann on her show, The Lisa Ann Experience where he told tales of his crazy childhood, the origins of his music and how the industry needs to give more breaks to unattractive but extremely talented musicians.
“In this episode I am joined by J Hustles who shares his journey in life and his passion for creating music,” says Lisa Ann. “J Hustles has lived a life filled with obstacles and challenges that he has turned into inspiration, kindness and consistency.”
“Talking to someone that can talk to anybody about anything can be intimidating, but Lisa Ann has a way of comforting you in an interview and sensing where you want to go and guiding you to that topic,” says Hustles. “After only talking to her for a short while I felt like we’d been friends for ages”
Hustles is currently promoting his new EP The Wasted Time.

About J. Hustles:
I was born and raised in the greater LA area living everywhere from Hollywood, Echo Park and Pacoima and finally making North Hollywood my home. All I ever really wanted to do was music, listening to music was really the one and only release I had growing up. My mom wasn’t the best at picking who she had around the kids, drugs will do that. I used to blame her for a lot of my shit, but as I got older I realized she was young and had a tough life so she didn’t really know how to break the cycle. My house was the spot, the spot where my step dad’s jazz musician friends would rehearse, party and pass out either drunk or with a needle still in thier arm, it was the spot the police would raid almost weekly when my Waylon Jennings listening step dad number 2 would be wanted for robbing a bank or a burglary to support his heroine habit, it was also the dope spot where my mom’s cholo homies would listen to oldies and slang drugs, mostly PCP. But no matter what craziness was going on there was a soundtrack to it. And now I can literally hear a song that goes with every situation that I encounter.
On how I got my name It’s kinda funny, I had a couple “nicknames” that I went by but the one thing that was always there was my ability to make things happen so I used to joke when people asked what I did, I’d say I Hustle then some of the homies would joke and be like there’s Jay, he hustles and laugh and it just stuck, I became J.HUSTLES
Growing up I looked up to anyone that beat the odds, anyone that didn’t make excuses for their situation and used it as a way to justify failure. Growing up we moved at a minimum of once every 2 years some time twice in a single year due to either eviction or because the trail was too hot and my step dad needed to get away. Or my mom was in rehab. So, I always knew that I wanted to provide a stable environment for my kids if I ever had the opportunity. It took some failures to get where I’m at, a poverty mindset isn’t easy to overcome but my kids will never know what eviction or the power being shut off or empty cupboards feel like. My desire to succeed has created a no quit and a not afraid to fail mentality.
When I’m not writing music I’m pretty much just chilling with my 7 year old daughter and my 5 year old niece that I’m in the process of adopting due to her mom’s drug abuse amongst other things. I talk about them in the song “For Real” featuring Joey Supratta and Shady records artist WESTSIDE BOOGIE. I like to hit the gym and I watch a lot of basketball, I’m huge NBA fan. Go LAKERS!
I’ve worked with many great producers including Focus… From Aftermath and PressPlay, Joey Supratta (my business partner) and Jay Plot. I’ve done songs with the YoungBloodz, Fatlip from Pharcyde, SoSo Def artist Hot Dollar and the incomparable MC Juice that battled and beat Eminem at Skibble Jam, he also has taken on just about everybody The Wake Up Show has thrown his way.
I’ve done numerous songs for different tv shows and films over the years from NBC’S Las Vegas to MTV’S Ridiculousness. My songs have been heard on major networks, cable and indy films. I did 7 songs for a feature film called “After the Reign” where the lead actor that didn’t rap lip synced my songs throughout the movie. My last single “For Real” went #1 on college radio and #6 on MediaBase for indie rhythmic artists on commercial radio.
My goal in this business is to make tons of money, yes obviously, but to be heard, to create the soundtrack to people’s lives is incredibly important to me as well, maybe even more so. To get to a point to give opportunities to up and coming artists that also have great things to offer is also something I want and need to do. I have an artist already under me that I can’t wait to share with the world. I have books and movies in my head as well that I hope will shed light on who I am, why I am and why you shouldn’t let the bullshit that happens to you at a young age dictate to you.
