***** 5 Stars
Over the years Bree Mills has been one of the most creative producers/directors/writers in the adult film industry. She can bring you something light hearted, sexy and fun to make you smile. She can also bring you something that plays with the mind, offers fantasy and makes you think. Ms. Mills can also take you into areas of life you never really thought about or felt anything for. Simply put, she is an incredible force to be reckoned with and her continued receiving of awards and nominations is the proof. Now, in this latest production, she has done it again with this very hard edged, dark, disturbing drama. “Hard Stop” has garnered a room full of award nominations from AVN and XMA for their upcoming awards shows later this month. Among the nominations is the “Best Feature Film” from both organizations to headline all the other individual, scene work, and behind the scenes nominations. With the XRCO and NightMoves awards to come later in 2026, you can bet this film will be among the heavy nominees.
The film revolves around a woman named Claire, a mother on a destructive path. brilliantly played by Reagan Foxxx in the best all around role of her career. She is on a path between pills and an addiction to sex that will soon destroy her life and leave everything she values in shambles. So bad is this addiction to sex that she is having a secret affair with Darren (Lucky Fate) who just happens to be her daughter Erin’s (Jane Wilde) boyfriend. She doesn’t have romantic feelings for him, he is just another outlet for her need for sex at any time in any way.
There are some things you cannot keep secret very long and when Erin finds out what has been going on, there is a major confrontation between mother and daughter. Claire knows she needs help in a big way, but she is so obsessed that she can’t see it. That’s when Erin finally convinces her to go to a sex rehab center called Hard Stop. She assures her that the seven day program they offer will help her to defeat this addiction and get her back on the right path with family and friends. After some tough, raw and honest talk, Claire agrees to go and give this rehab center a try.
Filled with an inner fear of what she is about to face, Claire checks in and begins to meet the other women who are also there for the same reasons. There is Vanessa (Sarah Arabic), Jasmine (Little Puck), Emily (Kenna James), and Olivia (Anna Claire Clouds). Their therapist is well played by Olivia Jay with just the right amount of being professional, but also being human and understanding these women. It is a time when they will begin the transformation back to a life of normalcy. The question is will it do for Claire what Erin is hoping for? But as Claire begins to hear the confessions, the thoughts, the destruction of the other women in these meetings. We get the playbacks of the sexual goings on that caused these women to be in rehab and some of the scenes are not easy to watch. The facial expressions from Claire begin to tell her story of fear that will bear every sordid, dark episode that has created the turmoil. As she begins to relate to some of the women, some feelings begin to surge through her and now she must decide if the time has finally come to reveal her true self or deny she has a problem like the others live her life in total denial. It should be, but isn’t an easy choice for Claire to make.
Bree Mills has written and put together a film that will take you through every emotion a person can feel. There is the fear, the vulnerability, the mental anguish, the physical abuse and decline in a bravura portrayal by Regan Foxxx and an exemplary cast to pull it all together. The sex scenes are very raw, somewhat disturbing, hard hitting and eye opening but they also tell the story of these women. There is a reason this film has so many nominations (well over a dozen noms) from Best Feature Film, Best Director, plus individual noms to Reagan Foxxx, Best Actress, Anna Claire Clouds and Little Puck, Best Supporting Actress plus behind the scene award nominations (screenplay, cinematography, etc.). All I can add is that this is a film of total dramatic, mind bending, gut smacking realism that you cannot miss seeing. So be sure to put “Hard Stop” on your “must see” list. It will be an excursion into a very troubled, hurtful world that so many suffer from but can also recover from.
