(Pittsburgh, PA / April 28, 2016) — In the wake of Utah’s new legislation declaring pornography a ‘public health hazard’ to its citizens, award-winning adult retailer and entertainment website AdultEmpire.com (AE) reveals eye-opening new information about the state’s daily porn habits.
According to AdultEmpire’s latest sales figures from January to April 2016, Utah ranks 36th out of the 50 states in porn consumption, is overwhelmingly enjoyed by men (94%) between the ages of 35-44 (35%) at 8:00 AM in Salt Lake City (22%).
Utah governor Gary Herbert signed a resolution April 19 to combat the ‘sexually toxic environment’ of pornography by raising awareness and education about the potentially harmful effects of long-term viewing, including addiction.
“The residents of Utah seem to have a healthy relationship with pornography, even though its state representatives have decided it’s quite the opposite,” said Adult Empire’s Director of Marketing, Megan Wozniak.
Adult Empire’s data also concluded that Valentine’s Day and Easter are holidays that spike sales for Utah’s porn, while New Year’s shows a decrease. Top search queries include ‘Sharing My Husband’ and ‘School Girl’, while time spent on adult sites averages six minutes.
While the Utah bill calls for research, education and policy change within the state, it doesn’t restrict or ban pornography; opponents of the bill say it paves the way for more intrusive legislation to pass in the future.
“I agree with any stance that protects children,” said Wozniak, “but when it comes to consenting adults, the people of Utah should be free to make their own decisions about personal entertainment without government interference.”
