(Los Angeles, CA / June 24, 2026) – Marica Hase appears in a new Weekly SPA! magazine interview discussing her path from Japan to Los Angeles, her breast cancer battle and the work ethic that has carried her through both.
The feature traces Hase’s rise from gravure modeling to adult entertainment and international recognition, including the early years when she handled much of her own promotion. “I wanted to do autograph sessions, but I couldn’t, so I bought DVDs with my own money and negotiated directly with shops,” Hase said in the interview. “I put flyers in tissues and handed them out. I did it all on my own.”
Hase also spoke candidly about her 2019 breast cancer diagnosis and how quickly her mind turned back to her career. “Even after being diagnosed with cancer and being told I needed a total mastectomy, my first thought wasn’t the fear of death, but ‘What about my work?’” Hase said.
“Reconstructive surgery was the obvious thing to do.”
Hase has since returned to performing, media appearances and international events while continuing to speak openly about her health journey. Fans can follow her on social media for updates on her latest interviews, appearances and upcoming projects.

ABOUT MARICA HASE:
Marica Hase is a Japanese-born international performer, model and media personality whose career spans Japan, the United States, Europe and Asia. After beginning in Japanese television, film and magazine modeling, Hase transitioned into adult entertainment and built a rare cross-market career, later becoming the only Japanese performer to be named a Penthouse Pet in the United States.
Hase first gained major attention after winning the SOD Create Cinderella Audition, a high-profile talent search from one of Japan’s leading production companies, which led to her debut as an exclusive performer while she continued working in mainstream media. She later became an exclusive performer for EROTICA before expanding her career internationally, earning industry awards, live event appearances, voice work and Hall of Fame recognition along the way.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, Hase took an extended hiatus to focus on treatment, including a double mastectomy and lymph node removal in 2022, before returning to adult entertainment and Japanese television. In early 2025, she faced a second cancer diagnosis with cervical cancer, later overcoming it and returning to filming.
Outside of her professional work, Hase is active in cancer awareness and animal rescue advocacy, while also sharing her off-camera personality through daily social media vlogs featuring Buusan, her beloved pig plush character who has become a fan favorite in his own right.
