Wicked Earns Movie of the Year, Best Drama, Best Parody, Best Foreign Feature & Best Foreign Non-Feature During the Adult Industry’s Biggest Night
LOS ANGELES, CA / LAS VEGAS, NV – (JANUARY 27, 2015) – For adult industry powerhouse Wicked Pictures, 2015 will be remembered as a year of success and commitment to brand identity. The company stayed true to its core vision as a purveyor of large-scale entertainment for couples, treating audiences to such hits as blockbuster creator Brad Armstrong’s 2015 AVN award winning Best Feature Drama Aftermath and Axel Braun‘s 24 XXX: An Axel Braun Parody, which broke ground by becoming the first parody in AVN history to win Movie of the Year. Wicked’s unwavering devotion to creating high-quality adult features was duly rewarded Saturday evening, January 24th, when the company and the lines it distributes received over a dozen glittering prizes at the 2015 Adult Video News Awards.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s famed music venue The Joint provided an ideal backdrop for the star-studded gala, which saw Aftermath emerging as one of the true hits of the evening. In addition to its Best Feature Drama honors, the provocative release also earned the talented Armstrong trophies for Best Director – Feature and Best Screenplay. In other highlights, popular performer Xander Corvus received the Best Supporting Actor award for his fine work in the Armstrong-directed Editor’s Choice Holly…Would.
Regarding Mr. Armstrong’s impressive awards performance, Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein observes, “Brad has been exclusive with Wicked for about 17 years and has won more awards than we can count over that time for his stand out movies. Aftermath, his latest blockbuster, was a great story with fantastic acting by jessica drake and Tyler Nixon that didn’t fit the usual mold. We thank the reviewers for recognizing it, and encourage everyone to keep an eye out for what’s coming next.”
In addition to being honored as 2015’s Movie of the Year, the witty and accomplished smash hit 24 XXX: An Axel Braun Parody earned its director Best Parody and Best Director – Parody awards, as well as Best Screenplay – Parody trophies for both Braun and co-writer Eli Cross. In other Braun-related highlights, Veronica Avluv earned Best Supporting Actress for her memorable performance in Cinderella XXX: An Axel Braun Parody, while Axel Braun Productions contract superstar Riley Steele received the AVN Fan Award for Favorite Female Porn Star.
Looking at the host of trophies earned by the latest contract director to join the Wicked family, Orenstein says of Braun, “Axel has just completed his first year with Wicked and we’re thrilled to see he has continued his winning ways with us. In year one he created both the Wicked Fairy Tales and Wicked Comix lines, as well as continuing to prove he owns the parody category. We look forward to what surprises he brings us in year two.”
The evening came to a rousing conclusion as famed French powerhouse Marc Dorcel claimed no less than three major awards. Having enjoyed a distribution relationship with Wicked that stretches back more than fifteen years, the influential European company’s excellent drama Anissa Kate the Widow earned both Best Feature and Best Director – Foreign Feature (Herve Bodilis) trophies, while another Anissa Kate release, Anissa and Lola at Nurses’ School, received the Best Foreign Non-Feature award.
The acknowledgment of Dorcel’s visionary commitment to quality capped off an evening of significant success for Wicked and the lines it distributes. It is with great honor that Wicked Pictures thanks AVN’s veteran editors and insightful reviewers for awards which speak not only to its undisputed legacy as the premiere producer of contemporary adult features, but its efficacy in satisfying evolving audience needs.
