We kicked off the 2016-2017 adult awards season with our 24th Annual NightMoves Adult Awards Show this past October.

We are proud to say that a number of the winners from our awards show have again been nominated for various awards by both XBIZ and AVN. The XBIZ awards will take place tonight in Los Angeles and then on Saturday Jan. 21, the AVN awards will take place in Las Vegas.

Once these shows are in the books, the only one remaining is the XRCO Awards. That show, which open to industry only, will take place on April 26 in Hollywood. Needless to say, the awards season is a very prestigious one and with four major awards shows honoring the industry they become very important events for everyone connected to the adult industry in various capacities. No longer is it just movies and performers as the industry and technology has evolved year after year. No longer is every award show nominees voted on by just industry people, but now the fans have their say as well with a couple of them, with NightMoves being the very first to add fan voting.

As the industry continues to grow both here and in Europe, the contributions of our foreign brothers in porn are also recognized.  In addition there are now nominations that take place in a variety of categories connected to the Internet. There are also nominations for categories in adult pleasure products and adult stores. Some years ago these were not even viable categories, but today it is a whole different world in adult entertainment.

The same could be said for the various categories in adult films and performers. All four of the major awards shows are continually tweaking their nominations lists. Each year there are new categories and genres added because of the popularity and special niche they create with their product. It is fair to say that in the coming years we will continue to see more changes, additions and modernizing of these awards shows.

With all that being said, it is now time to begin the celebrations of these two award shows and honor those nominated those who will be named the winners in the various categories. It has been one hell of 2016 with so many great productions, the emergence of new stars, off screen battles ( the defeat of Prop 60) and the deaths of director Cecil Howard and actress Amber Rayne among them. Personally I am very proud to be a voting member of both the AVN and XRCO awards in addition to all my work with NightMoves. Now all that hard work and the stellar performances are about to be honored and rewarded for all they gave to the industry and their fans. Beginning tonight and through next week it should be one hell of a ride!

Congrats and good luck to all of the nominees from myself and the entire staff at NightMoves Magazine and AAN, the All Adult Network.
