Organization Inducts Veteran Director Armstrong & Wicked Girl Asa Akira Into The Urban X Awards Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES, CA – (AUGUST 22, 2017) – Wicked Pictures is pleased to announce veteran blockbuster creator Brad Armstrong’s critically acclaimed Editor’s Choice Ethni*City earned Best Black Feature and Feature Movie of the Year at the 2017 Urban X Awards.  Additionally, both the director and Wicked Pictures contract superstar Asa Akira were inducted into the Urban X Awards Hall of Fame.

Dubbed “the Sexiest Awards Show of the Year,” the Urban X Awards were held Sunday evening August 20th at Stars On Brand in Glendale, California. The star-studded affair was presided over by hosts Luna Star, Ana Foxxx, Jada Stevens and Mia Isabella, with additional guest emceeing and voiceovers provided by James Bartholet.

“I’d like to thank the Urban X Awards for recognizing Ethni*City in both the Best Black Release and Best Feature awards categories,” Armstrong said of the back-to-back wins. “I’ve won Urban X Awards in the past but for some reason this year felt different. We at Wicked Pictures were very excited about this movie and knew very early on the project was going to be something really special, and we’re ecstatic that both critics and fans alike feel the same way. I’d like to thank the amazing ensemble cast that made the movie what it is, and for sharing their incredible talent with us. I couldn’t have done it without them, and I couldn’t be more proud of their commitment and enthusiasm towards the project.”

Turning to the other honors which came his way during the night, the industry veteran adds, “As for my Hall of Fame induction I was a little taken back. To be in the same group as such iconic performers as Prince Yahshua and Misty Stone was almost awkward. I’m sure there were many more deserving names in line to become “Hall of Famers” and I only hope to earn the honor in years to come, while continuing to write great roles that showcase the industry’s talented ethnic and urban performers. I’d also like to commend the Urban X Awards for their sense of community and inclusivity. They could easily limit their winners to ethnic and urban performers and directors, but instead, they honor everyone involved with the genre.” The Urban X Award for Social Media Star went to Asa Akira, but with the Wicked Girl unavailable to attend, Armstrong accepted on her behalf, thanking her for the fine work she’s done in his films and complimenting her unique online presence.

For his part, Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein couldn’t have been more pleased with the evening’s results. “We’re very thankful to the Urban X Awards and their voters for this recognition of our efforts. When traveling the country meeting and training retail staff, we often meet employees of color who would compliment the quality of our movies and say they’d love to see releases where the cast members look like them and their customer base. With Ethni*City Brad has done exactly that, and I’m happy to see his work so well received.”

The Urban X Awards were founded in 2008 by Giana Taylor. Ms. Taylor’s stated goal is to recognize, spotlight and honor the finest achievements in all areas of adult video entertainment.

Wicked Pictures is pleased to congratulate Ethni*City’s entire cast, crew, and production staff for contributing to the movie’s ongoing success.

About Wicked Pictures

Established in Canoga Park, California on March 1st, 1993, Wicked Pictures was formed with a firm commitment to producing quality adult productions created specifically for women and couples, a decision the company has stayed true to for over twenty-three years, even when this mission has seemed at odds with prevailing economic trends. And after a health scare in 1998 led many companies to begin instituting policies of mandatory condom usage, Wicked is the only producer still safeguarding performers’ health by continuing to adhere to this policy over seventeen years later. Wicked continues to diversify and expand its commitment to couples’ intimacy through such initiatives as the romance-driven Wicked Passions label, the AVN / XBIZ award-winning franchises Wicked Comix and Wicked Fairy Tales, the award-winning educational series jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex, and the Wicked Sensual Care line of luxurious lubricants and enhancers. These forward-thinking ventures allow Wicked to explore new ground while staying true to its core vision of producing quality adult entertainment and strengthening its appeal to women and couples.
